Lillian Rosenthal, also known as Linnie, was born on October 4th, 1899. Her parents were Russian immigrants. She was born in a small town called Spinnerstown in New Jersey. Her mother was a housewife and her father worked at a greeting card company.

However, Lillian always had an interest in learning more about science, technology and mathematics. She attended elementary and secondary schools nearby this card company.

When she entered college, she discovered that there were no classes taught entirely on science subjects that she wanted to learn about especially because of the product that this card company produced which was composed of beautiful ladies on the cards with cutesy sayings such as;

In this new job, she was able to spend some time in the various departments and get training that enabled her to create cards from scratch.

She was also trained in designing, printing and sewing the cards together. This enterprise offered many inspirations since it had all sorts of people from different races who were living in harmony working together to achieve one goal; making money.
